Kingscote is Kangaroo Island’s largest town as well as its administrative & commercial centre. Sitting on pretty Nepean Bay on the island’s n-e coast and 186 km s-w of Adelaide, it is also SA’s oldest European settlement founded in 1836. Kingscote was named after a director of the South Australian Company and remained an important port until 1860s.
